The dayhome policy is in place to protect parents, providers and children. At the time of enrollment you will be asked to sign this policy and you will be given a copy to keep for your records.

If my family or I become ill you will be notified and it will be your choice if you wish to allow us to provide care for your child.

If my child omes down with a communicable disease or any of the fllowing syptoms we wil hav to close th dayhome until the symptoms are gone.

If your child is sick with a mild cold or generally feeling unwell please consider keeping them home. This will protect my family and the other children we care for.

If your child has experienced any of the following within a 24 hour period they will not be able to attend the dayhome.

  • fever over 38 degrees

  • vomiting or diarrhea

  • undiagnosed skin rash or condition

  • communicable disease such as chicken pox, strep throat, pink eye etc.

  • persistent coughing

  • sore throat or trouble swallowing.

If a child develops any of these symptoms while in the care of the dayhome the parents will be contacted. You will be expected to pick your child up within one hour of this call. If you are unable to pick your child up then you must arrange to have them picked up by one of your emergency contacts. At times it will be just myself caring for the children and I will be unable to properly separate a child  from the group, or give the ill child the special attention and care they need if they become ill.

If at all possible please limit the administration of medications to before and after dayhome care. When this is not possible we will require all medications to be in their original containers. They will need to be labeled with the child's name and dosage amount.

Dayhome Policy

Illness and Medications

At times children may display undesirable behavior. Poor behavior will be dealt with quickly and in a very low key way. Generally most problems will be resolved by simply asking the child to stop and re-directing them to a different activity. In some cases a child may have a more difficult time listening. In these cases the child will be told again to stop and I will get the child to explain to me why they think what they are doing is wrong. They will then be shown a more acceptable activity to continue.

Hitting, kicking, biting, pushing,

spitting, pinching, swearing, screaming, and purposeful destruction of the home will not be tolerated.

If a child hurts another child they will be removed to a quiet area to calm down and think about what they did and why it was wrong. The child will be encouraged to understand how they hurt the other child and asked how they think they can make the other child feel better.

No child will ever be made to feel embarrassed or disrespected through behavioral guidance.

In most cases poor behavior will be corrected with the above methods and it will be a non-issue. In severe cases, we will strive to come up with a solution working with the parents. In rare cases extremely poor behavior will lead to termination of care.
